One warm compartment or both?
Tell us whether the fresh-food section, freezer or both are losing temperature. Record a thermometer reading and the time taken if you already have a suitable appliance thermometer. A set temperature on the display is not the same as a measured food-storage temperature.
Protect temperature-sensitive food while arranging help. Avoid repeated door openings. A lighted display shows that some functions have power; it does not prove the cooling system is working.
The location of frost matters
Describe whether frost is on food packages, around a door opening or across an interior panel. Check for packages preventing closure and obvious gaps or soil at the gasket. LG’s frost guidance also calls attention to blocked interior vents and doors that do not close fully.
Recurring frost needs an assessment of the cause. Do not chip ice with a sharp tool or use a heat gun inside the cabinet. A temporary thaw is not proof that a defrost, airflow or door problem has been repaired.
Give the sound a location and a time
Note whether a new noise comes from inside the cabinet, near the bottom or during ice production. Tell us whether it changes with a door opening. This gives the technician a starting point without assuming that every hum means a compressor failure.
For a leak, describe where water first appears and whether it coincides with ice making or dispensing. Do not pull a heavy refrigerator across the floor or disconnect the supply line to investigate.
Match routine care to the design
Keep internal airflow openings clear and clean door seals as directed in the LG owner guide. Condenser access and cleaning requirements vary; do not remove service covers just because a generic maintenance list says to clean coils.
Have the model and serial label available. Smart features and refrigerant systems differ across models, and a procedure for a similar-looking refrigerator may not apply.
Check coverage before approving a major repair
Find the model’s warranty and purchase receipt before authorizing work that might be covered. Refrigerator, sealed-system, compressor and labor terms can differ. We do not apply a single advertised warranty duration to every LG refrigerator.
