For an LG washer, the stage of the cycle and the exact error message are more useful than guessing which part failed.
Separate drain trouble from spin trouble
Water left in the drum, soaking-wet clothes and a loud spin are not interchangeable symptoms. Tell us whether the washer still contains water, whether it attempts to turn, and when the sound occurs. A short recording made during normal use can help; do not recreate violent movement or a leak.
Keep the whole model number and error message. LG uses different designs and code lists across top-load, front-load and combination machines.
An OE message points to drainage
LG’s front-load guidance describes OE as a failure to drain and lists hose restrictions and a clogged pump filter among the possible causes. It does not make every OE message proof of a failed pump.
On a model with an owner-accessible drain filter, follow its instructions for shutting down, cooling and draining before opening the filter. Opening a water-filled machine can release a substantial amount of water. Do not apply a front-load filter procedure to a top-loader or a model without that access.
Describe the sound and the load
A growl during draining calls for a different inspection from banging during a high-speed spin. Note whether the noise happens with every load or only with a heavy item, and whether the washer has recently been moved.
Review loading and leveling guidance for your model. Stop a machine that moves violently, leaks or develops a burning smell. Repeatedly forcing another spin does not resolve a mechanical fault.
A powered display does not prove the machine can start
Check the selected cycle, door or lid closure and any control-lock indication using the owner guide. Photograph the display before trying a reset described in that guide. A damaged latch or recurring electrical trip needs service rather than a bypass.
Clear access around the washer before the visit, but leave stacked equipment and plumbing connections in place. Mention an upper dryer, drain pan or closet installation when booking.

Does an OE code mean I need a new drain pump?
Not necessarily. Drain restrictions and other conditions can produce a drainage error. The model and actual cause must be checked.
Should I open the pump filter on every LG washer?
No. Only follow the procedure for a model with that owner-serviceable filter, including its water-draining and safety instructions.
